A friend asks me to shoot ground squirrels on his property to reduce crop
damage and minimize injuries to his livestock. Will the new ammunition
    requirements apply to this activity?
    Yes.
Quite interesting they feel they can apply this to even private property.

Just out of curiosity... are there any ordinances against using lead fishing sinkers in those areas?

Do they make carcass shaped lead sinkers. jokes...

So no lead for hunting, but I could go there with clay pigeons and blaze away all day with lead shot?

This private property you speak of... What is it exactly? I remember my grandfather telling me about the days of "private property" but as far as I know, the government owns everything and they just graciously allow us to live there out of the kindness of their hearts.

Hmmm, could this whole law be stricken down since it clearly violates the 4th Amendment? They can just randomly steal your ammo for inspection at a "later time?"

I shoot a 338 Lapua and cannot find any listings at
            http://www.dfg.ca.gov/wildlife/hunti...ad-ammo-ca.pdf, which
means I will have to buy custom ammunition or reload them myself. How will the
warden in the field determine that my ammunition is legal?
A training program will be implemented to familiarize field wardens with legal projectiles.
It is possible that a warden may seize a cartridge to inspect the bullet under controlled
            conditions at a later time.

There is no private property as long as the gov't has the ability to tax you for it. Don't believe me? Try not paying your property taxes. They take it from you.

Wow, that map on the DFG site is less than detailed....

Anyone know for sure if Mojave BLM land is included in that area?

It looks like it is not seeing as most of SB/Kern counties are not in the yellow line....Just wondering if anyone has factual data RE Mojave/RedRock/Jawbone BLM etc...

What are you crying about? Hunting regulations apply to private property just about everywhere in the United States. You own the land, but you don't own the wild game on it.

there are some animals that are not game per say, such as rodent types and do not fall under hunting regulations. and i agree that there is really no such thing as owning a piece of property outright. you will make payments on a piece of property forever ( property tax ) if you dont they take it away.

Pellet rifles are not considered a firearm. Consequently, neither pellet rifles nor their
projectiles would be included in the ban.
