Just curious; did anyone save such an "art piece" as this? That thing is awesome! That's not junk, it's a masterpiece! I wish I would have known stuff like this was out there; I would have brought it home and put it in my living room! Or bought it from someone that saved it!

Sorry to say it wasn't saved. In fact it was a dangerous weapon on its own as anyone handling it without thick gloves would need stitches. It was pretty, though!

Here is the Glass Factory thread, pics start on post #301, pg 8, contact Capybara and gtturborexx and see/ask how they went about it getting it done.

They decided it needing cleaning and took the bull by the horns and got it done. First time they've done something like this and look what they accomplished. Decades of crap gone in about 6 hours time.

Thanks for the kind words everyone and Vick. It was definitely a team effort with gtturborex, who has done a few of these at the Glass Factory and knew the right people to rally and SoCalMountainman who used the Glass Factory Facebook page and the power of social media to great effect. I noticed that about a third of our 90+ volunteers were under 25 years old. That is what I am most excited about, seeing kids and young people out there working their tails off to make this place look great again. It wasn't just a bunch of old guys out there, we had kids, families, dogs, young people, old people, professional firefighters, you name it, it was a true community effort and most notably, quite a few non-shooters, just people who locally wanted to help their community. It was very inspirational.

My hope is that we can combine with other CG coordinators who have spearheaded effective range cleanups, shoots and other events and come up with a procedure guide, tip sheets and a best practices guide/idea journal on how to make the most of a range cleanup. Perhaps we could even do webinars with coordinators in other parts of the state where it isn't practical to meet face to face?

The number one factor I observed was, the more prepared you are, the more groundwork, connections and social media you have laid down a foundation with, the more successful the cleanup is going to be. We collectively have been working on this one for a number of months, I think about three months. If you try to throw one together in three weeks, you aren't going to achieve these kinds of results.
