Gun case recommendations for 10/22 takedown

I'll be flying with my 10/22 takedown in a few months and need to purchase a hardback case. I'd like to be able to fit everything into my primary checked bag instead of checking the gun case by itself, so I want to fit it into as small a case as I can.

It will fit easily into a 24" case, but I can't seem to find anything shorter than 36". Anyone familiar with a hard case that's suited to a takedown rifle?

Look at Pelican cases. I have a small one for my handguns that I have bought. I had 2 padlocks locked and declared it when I checked in my roller bag. The Cust. Ser. agent gave me a form to fill out and then taped that on the hard case. I then locked the roller bag with a TSA approved combo lock.
I am looking now for another pelican for a rifle that I may bring down south with. In that case, i was told there is no label placed on the outside of the hard case, due to it may alert a baggage handler. There will be still, 2 padlocks that will be locked.
Some thin hard cases may not be approved by TSA. I know pelican is. It tough and rugged.

Such a shame you can't put it in the overhead, would be a perfect fit! Lol
