Hey, I'm looking for some educated insight on something real quick. I have a Taurus PT 140 listed for sale on Armslist.com and I was contacted by a guy down in San Bernadino (I live way up in nor cal) who wants me to ship it. He's willing to pay my asking price so I'm intrigued but I was just wondering how the whole process works and if anyone could give me any insight on the store he wants me to ship it to as far as how are they to work with and whatnot. He wants me to ship it to Private Security Training Center down in San Berdo, anyone know anything about them? I'm told that they will function as an escrow company when I ship the gun to them, meaning, when he inspects the gun he pays them and starts his 10 days then when it clears they will pay me. Also, do I have to do anything special when shipping a gun or do I just throw it in a box and drop it off at ups? Thank you

Just make sure wherever you're sending to is a valid FFL. Some people would call the FFL and print out there info and leave it within the gun case. Other then that seal up the gun and your good to go. Also most FFL will charge extra on top of dros fees. Make sure you and seller agrees to all terms. -
Never heard of the place.
Have the buyer go to DAVE'S MAGNUM GUN RANGE. Do the transfer there. I have before and they did me good.

I'm not sure if you sold the pistol package here on calguns is the same one you listed on armslist. The one you have listed here does not require the buyer to inspect before he pays you in full for it before it is shipped. Your description and photos tell him and show him exactly what he would be purchasing. Once paid in full for the package you can then send the item. As for sending, I'm not sure if you can send it yourself, or if it will need to be sent from a FFL in your area to a FFL in his area. You could ask that question at a shop in your area, or on the FFL section here. As for the inspection and escrow garbage for a $300 package, I'd tell him to 4getaboutit. He gets to pay his dros fee and his FFL's transfer/handling fee that's his deal to handle.Comment

I do not see Taurus PT 140 on the CA Roster.
Sending it to an FFL does not meet the current evaluation of private party transfer exemption for off roster pistols.
Because of the roster you either have to sell it in person at an FFL or send it out of state.
Please see here:
The current FFL opinion I have seem seems to be that they have been instructed that a PPT requires both parties to appear at the same FFL, though not necessarily at the same time.
If, as suggested here, the seller will not appear, the transaction would be a transfer, but not a PPT, so the Roster does apply.
Never heard of Private Security Training Center and I am in Riverside and in SB often.
But I did some snooping:
Seems to be their website: http://www.privatesecuritytc.com/
Seems they have a Davidsons account: http://www.davidsonsinc.com/consumer...aler_id=884540
Seems they do have an FFL: http://www.fflregistry.com/FFL-Deale...oke/66356.html
But honestly the escrow thing smells of a scam...
99.9% of the time the seller gets the money before it is shipped or if they meet at a FFL prior to the start of the paperwork.
IMO run away from this buyer...Comment
