Just installed a MOE hand grip..not impressed

So I have helped others build their AR15s and many of them installed either Magpul Moe or MAID. They felt ok for the limited time I handled their rifles.

So I figure I will finally buy a MOE to match my CTR & FUG, OD Green.

I take it out of the box and its a bit light, first impression was its thin walled compared to other grips I have used. I am presently using a Mako AG43... a real one not the airsoft CAA copy.

I go out a rip off a few mags...ok I see now why people are recommending that insert called the "gapper". I have never had a use for one til now. The MOE has sharp edges and does dig into your finger on rapid fire. I am probably going to sand that area smooth.

The beaver tail has a large gap between it and the lower. My AG43 had a small gap too, but nothing this wide.

I do like the bottom plate of the MOE over the AG43, but I fixed my AG43 to be even more secure then the Magpuls. To be fair the factory Magpul bottom is better without the mod.

I have not shot it enough to review ergonomics, but I have to say first impressions of the MOE is very poor. It feels cheap, both off the rifle and on it.

Its better then an A1 or A2, but if the grip doesn't grow on me soon, my AG43 is going back on. Maybe I will buy another in OD Dark Green to match my other plastic gear.

Maybe I will try a Troy

Buy a Hogue, they come in several different colors and have a nice feel to them.

I really like the mako 43 that you have as well as the hogue. I am curious about magpul's new grip as well but I agree, I am not a fan of the moe grip either.

It was the MOE, not the "K".

I will start looking at the Hogue as well as the Tango Down. Thanks for the recommendations.

I will give this Magpul a few range trips before I make a final determination.

I have the MIAD with the interchangeable front and back straps and the storage core. I think that one is worth every penny. I like being able to customize the size of my grip depending on if I need to wear gloves because it's cold and store a spare firing pin or 3 extra rounds.

BCM also makes some nice polymer grips.

I like the MOE. The MOE+ is also real nice. Are you using the MOE with a standard trigger guard? I like the magpul enhanced trigger guard to block off that "gap".

                    And BTW...

I have the MIAD and MOE+ and the MOE+ is my favorite by far. It has an awesome tacky quality to the rubber that makes it a pleasure to handle. You should check it out.

funny stuff. I will give it a try, maybe I will pick up a trigger guard to close the gap. That is annoying itself, having to buy another piece to get the same comfort level as other grips are out of the box.

I have the MIAD and storage is a plus. The like the grippy plastic compared to rubberized grips like Hogue as those make my hands sweat. The storage compartment is great for holding a spare battery, a front sight post adjustment tool and dummy bullet for the bullet button.
