    Unknown shotgun / need help

Need some help on this double barrel shotgun guys ;; I took this shotgun in as part of a work trade and neither I nor a local gun store can tell me much about it .

It's 12 guage with no manufactures name,
Might be spanish ,,on the safety on top is the word .. Seguro
On the top between the barrels is stamped :: E E Eibar Elgueta
Some nice tooling on the gun , with birddog on each side
Anybody know anything about this one and value ????

Its an Eibar, usually worth about 200-300 depending on condition. Made in Spain. Do a search for Zabala Eibar, you will find some matches im sure.

Stormfeather is right that it is Spanish and made in Eibar. WHO made it isn't clear, since there were (and are) many Eibar gunmakers. Zabala Hermanos is a good guess, but a guess (they still are in business) It looks like a basic field grade boxlock not made for export to English-speaking countries because it doesn't have the usual importers markings and the safety is marked in Spanish.

If you want to know more, you could take off the forend and take a clear picture of the barrel flats and the inside of the reciever and post it to the discussion forum on www.doublegunshop.com ("the double gun BBS"). The collectors there may be able to help you.

You should also look on the barrel flats or reciever for a "date of proof code". It will be a letter and a number and will tell you when it was made; the listing of what codes equal what years is posted on www.gunboards.com "Spanish Pistol" forum and at the front of www.9mmlargo.com, among other places. That will also tell you if it's a C&R, in case that matters.

While I was typing, you posted the reciever flat pic. Don't know much about those proofmarks myself, except that they are Spanish. "12/65" means a 2 3/4" chamber (65mm long). Don't see the date of proof code, but if you find it, it will probably be on the barrels.
