WOLF 7.62-39 problems

i shoot YUGO, WOLF and TULA in my SKS. i am starting to get a lot of duds with the WOLF. out of 10 rounds maybe 3 are duds with the WOLF. i cant blame the rifle because the firing pin is striking the primer just like the YUGO and TULA. not one misfire with TULA or YUGO. how about you ?

There should be a LOT# and manufacture date stamped on the inside of the box lid.

I've seen some sketchy Wolf 7.62x39, rounds without primers, without powder, with primer and powder but no flashhole for the primer. Ok plinking ammo but nothing to bet your life on.

i had a few do that with my mini 30 i guess it was just a touchy lot
cause i also experienced the problem in my mak90 but instead of like 3-5 duds per box it was only like 1 or 2 but it was still stoppages with an ak which was annoying

the only stoppage with an ak should be a click on an empty chamber


just shoot it up your next batch probably will go better

Wow, that's crazy. With Wolf and others, I've gotten some lots with frequent duds, or random rounds loaded so lightly that sometimes the firearm didn't cycle, but nothing like that. Some years ago some guy posted a thread on THR where he found a military headstamped 7.62x39 in amongst the rest.

Wolf runs great in my saiga the only ammo that I have had a few misfires is from fiochii brass ammo. It could be a problem with your rifle.

Mini 30's require an Extra Power (XP) hammer spring from Wolff Gunsprings to reliably ignite hard Russian ammo primers. HTH c good

Ive never had a problem shooting wolf ammo in my Mini-30. Owned rifle for ~7 years with no modificiations, and mostly shot wolf ammo. out of around 2500rds. I have only had a very few not fire. If i had to give a number it would be in the neighborhood of 1/150 did not fire.

Never had a problem with black box Wolf.

Had many failures with Wolf Military Classic in the camo box.

It is your rifle. SKS likes soft primers! Saiga will run on anything.

SKS has a free floating firing pin. The firing pin can become obstructed if the lacquer sealer from the primer on the round flakes off and builds up in the firing pin channel. This will preclude the firing pin from travelling all the way forward to ignite the mil spec primer common in Comm Block ammo. Be sure to take the bolt out, and soak in a cleaning solution, then blow out the firing pin channel with compressed air. You will be surprised how much primer sealant of all colors comes out of there. HTH....c good

thanks, i came home and soaked the bolt in # 9 then used compressed air. then i blasted it with brake cleaner spray. another compressed air blasting. then sprayed with rem oil. i only had about 50 rounds since a very good cleaning.
my opinion their is something not perfect with the firing pin striking the primer that works ok with yugo and tula . i will figure it out. i think i will use the wolf as my stash back up ammo and use the tula and yugo more.
