    10 round mags?

now as a mag can only hold 10 rounds.
just thinking would it be a legal 10 round X 2,
or would it be a 20 round trip to club ca?

a double 10 round ar mag, but feeding 10 rounds from each end? same housing different springs and followers, fixed center point, holding a grand total of 20 rounds but can only feed 10 from each end...
.aka two ten rounders fixed but to but?

shoot off ten rounds, remove and flip end for end reinstall, shoot 10 more shots?

not possible to shoot more than ten rounds with out flipping the mag.
first 10 point in one direction the other ten point in the other.

or you could just buy a magazine coupler and not have to flip the mag upside down!

Non permanent magazine coupling is legal. Examples of non permanent would be duct tape or a magazine coupler.

Welding, screwing, riveting together two mags that feed from two springs and stacks would still be manufacture of a large-capacity magazine.

so even though they feed independent of each other it would still be a non small cap mag...aka in ca a large cap mag.

too bad as i was hoping to just reduce some bulk. as in two 10/20 taped together -ver- two 10 rounders attached end to end. weight and bulk being the big issue here.
could you please list the state code number for reference please.

You can tape two 10/20's together. That's non permanent.

There is no direct cite but there is a letter. Where that letter is would take me some time.

Taping something together is not manufacturing. Welding, riveting, or screwing it together most likely is.

if you can find that letter it that would be great, not trying to "push" a point just want to keep it ca leagle,

it is too bad this could not work.

to much thinking time on my hands, just trying to stay awake at work.
sounds good but looks like a still born thought.

              hmmm....

So you're saying two 10rd mags, side by side, screwed together would be considered a hi-cap?

I would think the basis of determination would be that nothing needs to be done (removed, actuated, etc) for more than 10 rounds to be fired...

                The law is:
                (25) As used in this section, "large-capacity magazine" means any
ammunition feeding device with the capacity to accept more than 10
rounds, but shall not be construed to include any of the following:
                (A) A feeding device that has been permanently altered so that it
cannot accommodate more than 10 rounds.
                (B) A .22 caliber tube ammunition feeding device.
                (C) A tubular magazine that is contained in a lever-action
                firearm.
Two ten rounders screwed together is "an ammunition feeding device" with "the capacity to accept more than 10 rounds."

Two ten rounders taped together are two ammunition feeding devices, each with the capacity to accept 10 rounds and some tape.

                  Gene,

I'm curious... this defies my sense of what is and isn't...

By that statement, would you consider multiple magazines attached, like this, to be one device:

                  But not this?

                  What about this?

Using the analogy of multiple tanks in a truck still being individual tanks... I just don't see how you could consider it a single device.

I'd bet the DA on the other side would look to the question - "does it require a tool to remove?" Sound familiar?

Remember we're arguing about an asinine law. The top picture is an ammunition feeding device that has the capacity to accept more than 10 rounds. The others - not so much.

Agreed... and it's a minor point anyways. Just a step of engineering work-around.

                      Asinine, inconsistent and silly.

i think because it fires ten rounds at a time then you have to remove the mag and re-charge the weapon it might be o.k but who knows

tape em butt to butt and use some popcycle sticks for support. same thing as screwing two buttplates together as far as functionality.
