Scott Mankoff, 43, of Dallas waded through the rival group's crowd of about 100 — then headed to the church.

Mankoff, a retired artist, opposes new gun laws but came to turn in a spare .22 rifle to be destroyed because of the Newtown shootings.

"It's not about the money — it's about getting it off the street," he said.
Soooo, what you're saying is the gun which you own and are in control of is left out in the street all the time? Yeah, you'd better give that up moron.

what he is saying is..."oh crap I got to talk to this Reporter... how do I tell him I just turned in a $20 POS broken firearm for a $200 gift card"

Check the comments. "I'd surround the counter-buyback with live tanks and helicopters and have drones kill those evil gun people"

Yeah, isn't it refreshing to see such tolerant and peaceful behavior from the anti-gunners. These are DEFINITELY the people I want choosing which rights I can exercise - after all they're so benevolent and humble and just want what's best for society. Killing gun owners with Predator drones isn't wrong - it's for the children! /sarcasm

          This is great.

But countering a gun 'buyback' by a church in TX is one thing

Countering a 'buyback' conducted by the KGB in CA is another ball of wax

I agree. Have a dealer on site to D.R.O.S. everything bought and just go with it. Bet you could get a good deal. "You're selling that AR-15 for $200? I'll give you $300."

You could never get the permits or whatever to set up a table, but you could do what they did in AZ - cruise the line asking what people are turning in and offer more money for anything nice. Then walk the person over to the FFL sitting on his tailgate to complete the paperwork. The cops can't stop you because you're doing nothing illegal.
