so many guns, but which one

well here is my problem, did my taxes and i will be getting some change back, gonna pay some bills and pay for some school for my wife and put some back for my daughters second birthday, so i want a new firearm but i cant decide which one or what platform, my three options are a 1911 with rail + 1000rds of ammo, or a shotgun + ammo or a bolt gun in either 223 or 308, all will be pretty much range use shotgun and 1911 can be used for HD also, i already have a cz sp-01, and a off topic choice would be a used dirtbike, i cant decide, its easier for me to go to the range then hit the trails so im leaning more towards a new gun.
Looking to only spend 400-1100 on gun 400 for ammo
1911 im thinking sig 1911
shotgun, cz 612 hc-p if it comes out soon
bolt gun looking at the savage hog hunter in 223 or 308

No I have three 22 rifles,357 mag and my cz, used to have a s&w model 59

you need "1911 + Dirt Bike" as an option... because its like peanut butter and jelly. That's where my vote goes.

I would love to get both but for the dirtbike I would have to budget In new boots and a helmet, as my old ones got ruined

1911 is nice, but will cost you through the nose for Ammo if you can even find it.
If you want home defence then go with the 1911 or shotgun I say, either will get the job done but there is something to be said about how good the 1911 feels in your hand.
The rifles if youre going for a bolt gun keep in mind if you should decide to hunt with it you are all around better getting the 308
Before you make your decision you have to decide what you will most likely want to use the new weapon for.
Target shooting/Hunting get the rifle in .308
Home defence get the 1911 or Shot gun
Bird hunting only option is the shot gun so dont get a tactical type but get a quality semi auto or pump that you can use tactically, but still use bird hunting.

My vote goes to the 1911. Slight bias cuz that's what a chunk of my return will go to after I sell my current 1911. What model sig were you looking at? The scorpion 1911 is a sweet rig if you can find someone to do an SSE on it.

Personally, I have more fun shooting rifles than handguns. Shooting skeet/trap is fun, but not all the easy to do by yourself. So for me, it would come down to the rifle or dirt bike. You said that it would be easier to find an hour or two to go to the range than finding the time to load up your gear to go dirt biking.

If it were me, I'd go rifle in either .223 or .308
Just punching paper <500yds .223, if you plan on hunting or extending your targets out, .308

I don't know about you guys, but it's getting real thin out there inventory wise. I voted for the dirt bike because as far as I'm concerned most of the desirable guns and their necessary 'ammo are gone.

Did you guys hear that Mitt Romney was shopping for 'ammo in Turner's Kearny Mesa? Even HE had to leave empty-handed...

Also a good looking gun and no need for sse. I've been eyeing a 1911 with a rail myself. The only thing ive heard bad about the sigs is their customer service but if the gun is good you shouldnt need that too often.

You're a young couple with a cute daughter...

While you're young I would look to the future and get:

1. A Dillon 550B reloading press with all the bells and whistles. This machine will always be valuable and just consider it an investment. With all the high costs of ammo and future gun grabbers trying to shut down internet sales and perhaps a ID CARD with ammo purchase limits.....you need to be
independent of all this drama. Plus reloading .45 is an easy way to feed a 1911.

2. Components like powder, primers, shell cases and boolets. Rock and Roll.

At least consider this idea.

3. Proper gun safe.

4, Enjoy the hobby now knowing you're good for anything.
