Saiga 7.62x39 converted for ak mags

Are they reliable? I am having one converted for AK mags.
From my understanding it's just a bullet guide filling down the mag clip.
    Also the 5 US parts.

There isn't really any issues on the conversion. Just a bullet guide and mag catch. The assuming that the bullet guide gets installed correctly, there won't be an issue to reliability.

And you don't need to worry about the 922(r) compliance if you're only adding the bullet guide and trimming the mag latch; you're not changing the "sporting use" characteristics of the rifle.

Feeding issues should not be a problem. You can either file the mag latch but that will make the Saiga mag a little wobbly but it will still work. If you dont file down the mag latch, you can just file and fit the AK mags instead.

AFAIK ability to use hi-cap mags = not sporting. Must be why they come the way they do.

I do believe you are correct.

If you're gonna mod a foreign semiauto rifle to allow for operation with hicap mags, you should play the 10-or-less key game with key foreign parts for that rifle.

Hmmm. Possibly. In that case, don't trim the mag latch and trim the magazine itself.

The Kel Tec is not an import. All US parts.

If you trim the AK mag to work in a Saiga, you have possibly manufactured a post ban high capacity magazine, unless it still functions in an AK. People over at forum.saiga-12.com also say that once you insert one of the new Surefire proprietary high capacity magazines into the rifle, you are in violation of 922r if your Saiga is stock.
