    Intrafamilial Transfer Help, Please

Can anyone point me to info on Firearms Transfers at the family level? My Bro in law wants to go this route, but I feel like it has to be direct line or then an actual transfer at an FFL.

Any info/point in right direction would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

Doesn't work brother to brother, or brother-in-law to anyone.

Thank you. That was what I thought, but since he works at an FFl, I thought perhaps I'd missed something.

Side bar question, any paper work needed to be filed to transfer a rifle or shot gun to imediate family members or grandchildren?

parent to child, child to parent only the link above has the paperwork. A grandparent would need to xfer down to child (parent) then from parent to child (grandchild)

not true. the definition of "immediate family" associated with the controlling statute specifically states that direct grandparent/grandchild transfers are allowed.

As used in this part, "immediate family member" means either
                of the following relationships:
                (a) Parent and child.
                (b) Grandparent and grandchild.
Don't need the chain, grandparent to/from grandchild works.

Reviving this thread for a co-worker. His brother purchased a Springfield XD in Ore. for him. I understand they can't do intrafamilial xfer(bro to bro), but can the brother just sell him the gun thru an FFL, just a regular sale from an out of state seller? Or can the brother x-fer the XD to the mother (who lives in Ore) who can then intrafamilial x-fer to son here in Cal.?

Is the XD on the Roster (and are there 10-round mags for it?) If YES to the first, brother can come to CA and find a willing FFL to do the interstate transfer.

Perfectly legal under Federal law to purchase a gift handgun.

OR-Brother/son to OR-Mother is a problem for OR law; I don't know OR law at all, and CA has no reason to care.

If OR-Mother wants to give a handgun to CA-son, through a CA FFL as required by Federal law, that appears to be OK.

Still can't transfer any 10+ mags, though.
