VideoThe high capacity magazine--illegal for sale under a proposed law--that Defense Distributed 3D-printed and tested. Five months ago, the group of homemade gun enthusiasts known as Defense Distributed set out to create a lethal firearm that could be downloaded and 3D-printed entirely from scratch, circumventing all gun control laws. "It wasn't a failure of laws," said Amanda Wilcox, who along with her husband, Nick, lobbies for the California chapter of the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence. "I just don't see how our gun laws could have stopped something like that."

why play with plastic and a spendy 3d printer when you can make dies and press them out like the orig ?

think you have to be a paid member to view this site but heres a link to building "Curved mag making" page 3 has a doc file with all images saved

3-D Printed Magazine - Here is the Alex Jones version on Wired. Very good interview with creator whose views on freedom are inspiring and profound. Worth watching.

"Creating garrisons of freedom." Great video what ever you think of Alex Jones. http://www.wired.com/dangerroom/2013...nted-magazine/

I understand your point, but this is just the beginning of what is possible with 3-D printing. In the video I posted above, he has also created a printed lower. But consider what is possible. All it takes is a binary file which can be e-mailed to anyone. Buy a printer and make your own parts. How long would it be until newly designed plastic trigger parts are available. Or other weapons accesories.

And outside the area of firearms, other high tech plastic parts could be made.

I talked a women several months ago who is working on a new production process much like 3-D printing using high tech alloys that could, in theory, produce a rifle barrel. Yes, a rifle barrel able to perform the same as a barrel which is made using current processes. This is a few years away, but it has profound consequences.

Lower tech metal printers are possible now. So, it will be inteesting to see how the Internet and new technology make it impossible for the Government to regulate every aspect of our lives... I hope.

You can 3d print a brand new 787 but maybe it's not a good idea.
