    Thwarting Gun Buyback programs

Had the idea (and i'm sure i'm not the first) to cut out some pistol receivers from plywood, attach a piece of .224 diameter pipe and work out a quick and easy trigger system to make a bunch of single shot .22lr pistols. Then, take these crude, cheaply made firearms and turn them in at gun buy backs.

I know building these things is legal, I'm just wondering if they would refuse them since they would be such crudely made firearms. Anyone know what the general policy is at buy backs? If it meets the definition of a firearm will they take it? I feel like trading $5 worth of "gun" for $100-$200 and not giving the antis anything to show for it is a pretty good deal.

The way to thwart gun buybacks is to do what they did in Arizona. Buyers lined up on the sidewalks and bought anything worthwhile before they could get "turned in" for a hundred buck gift card. It was like a sidewalk gun show. It would be a little more difficult in California because of the transfer dealer BS, but if you could find a cooperative FFL, they could buy the guns on the spot and resell them later to the buyers via transfer dealer.

might work , but if pulled over on the way there you could be charged with a illegal zip gun and manufacturing a zip gun .....

I have a beater old Savage semi-auto 22. Broken charging handle, rattle canned black. POS. I didn't do the "mods". It's worthless, pretty sure it won't chamber, fire or extract. But it's worth $200 of libtard buy back feel good money. That $200 will go directly to Calguns and the NRA. That's another way to make lemonade out of bullish*t.

The only problem is most of these buybacks are done with taxpayer $.
Now if the leftist put there $ where their mouth is and fund these programs then ya screw em..
I thought about this with printable guns etc.

that's kind of what I was thinking though...if they spend thousands in taxpayer money and have nothing to show for it, i'm pretty sure they would have some serious explaining to do. You'd just have to make sure that you got there before too many other people.

I am a little concerned that they would fall into the "unconventional firearm" category, or "zip gun" category, but isn't a zip-gun something that isn't a gun that you make into something that can fire a bullet??

(12)As used in this section, an "unconventional pistol" means a firearm that does not have a rifled bore and has a barrel or barrels of less than 18 inches in length or has an overall length of less than 26 inches.
if someone were to do what I originally planned, it seems like they would have to find a way to make a rifled barrel for it to not be illegal manufacturing of a "unconventional pistol".....would this be a difficult or impossible task? If you have a small derringer style design would you be able to carve something into the barrel to serve as rifling??

Are you talking about the one in Tucson last week?

That was put together by AZ State Senator Frank Antenori. He was there and bought a couple of guns. (Just to be clear, Antenori organized the "sidewalk gun show" not the buyback.)

"Did I say "republic?" By God, yes, I said "republic!" Long live the glorious republic of the United States of America. Damn democracy. It is a fraudulent term used, often by ignorant persons but no less often by intellectual fakers, to describe an infamous mixture of socialism, miscegenation, graft, confiscation of property and denial of personal rights to individuals whose virtuous principles make them offensive." - Westbrook Pegler
