A friend sent me this link that describes how a machine gun jetpack is theoretically possible. I thought it was extremely awesome and hilarious. Have a look.

Why would you want a machine gun jetpack when you can have a barrel shroud?

I saw a jet-pack that has a machine gun mounted to it...never one made out of firearms.

This only proves that just because its possible on paper doesn't mean its actually possible.

Meh, that's just a low-rent Project Orion (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Project..._propulsion%29)

There is also an old SF book by Jerry Pournelle (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/King_David%27s_Spaceship) published in 1980 that uses this idea.

Not a new idea, but it's nice to see someone work out the math.
