    AR-15 Magazines

Gentelman I am looking to purchase a couple of 10 round AR-15 mags for my build and ideally would like to stick with the best I can get for reliability reasons. I have always purchased original replacement mags for my other weapons and have never been disappointed with their dependability. Can anyone give me suggestions as to where I may be able to purchase such mags at a reasonable price and also offer suggestions as to makers that are available and dependable? A second question I had is if i had several high cap mags given to me by a friend before 2000 is it O.K. to use these mags without fear of legal problems?

    1. Bushmaster sells the best most reliable 10 round AR magazines that I have used.

    2. Yes, you are GTG because you adquired them before 2000...

the 30 round mags would be legal with a featureless build.

in a fixed mag build... its a no no.

we should have the bushy 10 rounders(both current types) either today or on tuesday in the shop.

I have a question about the "before 2000" mag thing. There was a federal ban on hicap mags from 94 to 04, so how did everyone by mags after 94 to 2000? I am not super up to date on the federal ban so that is why I am asking. My mags are pre 94 so I never had to deal with any mag issues after 94.

If I remember correctly, they just weren't making more mags at that point and you could only buy what was already on the market? Is that right?

        Just curious.

Yupper! - at least up until 1-1-2000 in Ca - if I remember the date correctly. Thanks goodness I have/had some involvement in the shooting sports and industry, and could get some goodies before they became "unobtanium."

One interesting thing - at one time if I wanted to dispose to "full capacity" magazines the state required me to ship them (out of state) through an FFL, with a lot of recorded data. Price, who from, who to, what gun, etc. I don't know if that is still on the books when I read that years ago, I was very uncomfortable. Perhaps it was proposed legislation, but I don't think so.

I have one of your products now, and buying another today. Thanks!

          all the best,

          Mike
There are some people that it's just not worth engaging.

It's a muzzle BRAKE, not a muzzle break. Or is your muzzle tired?

You could buy high cap magazines during the federal AWB, but they had to be made before 1994.

Manufacturer's seemed to have huge stockpiles of pre-ban magazines, and could still sell them off, so high cap magazines were readily available, but just a little more expensive.
