    1911 carbine conversion

I know it is illegal to convert to http://www.mechtechsys.com/1911.html as current CA law.

But what if we get this stock http://www.sportsmansguide.com/net/cb/cb.aspx?a=213622

The stock that attaches to main spring housng. Then slap on Mechtech upper without stock.

    Would it be legal?
'Cuz big holes are easier to see.

You can correct my spelling and grammar error anytime.
I welcome it. How else would I learn.

Still illegal. Definition of a PG is the web of the triggerhand can be placed beneath the top of the exposed portion of the triggerguard when firing.

You can legally run a Mechtech CCU on your 1911 as long as you make it fixed mag, making a bullet button to fix the mag is as easy as running a spare mag release on the bench grinder.

Seems kinda ludicrous that it is illegal to turn an easily concealable firearm into essentially an unconcealable rifle.
"If a man hasn't found something worth dying for, he isn't fit to live." - Martin Luther King Jr.
"Those who would give up Essential Liberty to purchase a little Temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety." - Benjamin Franklin
"You have to be willing to swing your nuts like a deadblow hammer to put these jackasses in their place." - AJAX22
"The best defense against usurpatory government is an assertive citizenry." - William F Buckley Jr.

You do realize that this is California right?
Lord, make my hand fast and accurate.
Let my aim be true and my hand faster
than those who would seek to destroy me.
Grant me victory over my foes and those who wish to do harm to me and mine.
Let not my last thought be 'If I only had my gun."
And Lord, if today is truly the day you call me home, let me die in an empty pile of brass.

And if you really think about it, $250.00 for what is probably an entry level type barrel and a crappy wood stock isn't a great deal. I think this falls into the "want it 'cause we can't have it" category. Pick up a Mech Tech and grind down a 1911 mag release, have fun.

Numrich used to list this combo for under $150. I heard it was pretty loose and inaccurate so I never bought one. Should you figure out how to purchase and use it please post experience with it..
People don't like to be meddled with. We tell them what to do, what to think, don't run, don't walk. We're in their homes and in their heads and we haven't the right. We're meddlesome.
