was thinking about buying a little .22 rifle and teaching my daughters to shoot. was just wondering if there is an age restriction on firing a gun in california. obviously they wouldnt own the weapon or carry it concealed. im just wondering what age a kid would have to be to legally fire a weapon for target practice.

No restriction. Until 2014, no restriction on age to receive a gun from a parent/grandparent (then it becomes 18).ARCHIVED Calguns Foundation Wiki here: http://web.archive.org/web/201908310...itle=Main_Page
Frozen in 2015, it is falling out of date and I can no longer edit the content. But much of it is still good!Comment

sad day when a child can't get a .22 for Christmas... was one of the happiest Christmases I ever had as a child and I still remember that day. I think I was like 10. Got a shotgun when I was like 13 and a 7mm & .223 when I was 16.Comment

No limit to shoot at targets. Must have hunting lic to shoot squirrels etc. Must be 12 for big game I think. Started my daughter shooting when she was 4.5 years oldA 30cal will reach out and touch them. A 50cal will kick their butt.
