That was YOU! Small friggen world! I was one of the deputies that responded to that call on an agency assist. I left half way through though. Good job, but just remember you took a lot of risks doing that. Granted, it all worked out, this time, let's just hope that there isn't a next time!!!

Ha, Awesome, I was the guy in the blue button up and red lens sunglasses, so, Any ideas on that second guy with the dreds? sure hope he didn't get to walk like that first officer told me.

And Yeah same here, no next time, at least not until we can carry haha, I kept saying to myself after it was done "he had a gun... I chased him and he had a Gun!" and yeah It was a pellet pistol, but no one knew that until it was over, even then, it was all pretty much blank to me as it went down, and it was like I never even saw that gun as a threat, like I said, I saw what was happening and then the rest was all so automatic, I sure hope it dosent happen again too, it was very draining... and should there be another time I think I'll just get into my SUV instead of running from it to him, Instead I'll just run him over instead of chasing on foot. haha

Good job! I'd like to shake your hands but you're over there and I'm here. Don't they give you honorary deputy for this. I'm sure your local PD will give grant you some sort of award or certificate for your civic duty.

Now that CCW would have been handy. Can you imagine what would've if that BG had decided to shoot it out with his pellet gun or if he'd even chosen to use it at all.

Maybe no one else noticed this or cares to comment on it, but it just strikes me as being VERY ironic.

The angle of that video was misleading and even if that were the case, you sometimes have to make critical decisions to take proper action that may be frowned upon by others afterwards. You seemed to have experienced this yourself yesterday, thus you should know. Remember, hindsight is always 20/20... especially for those who wish to critique your actions from afar.

We have no way of knowing what the intentions of the suspect were. He could have been there to simply rob and flee or rob and execute. We do not know. He may have been jumpy and could possibly have shot someone if he perceived anything "hinky." Once again, we do not know. Thankfully so. If the clerk had not reacted, it could very well have been him, his colleague, the mother or the child that ended up wounded rather than the suspect. I prefer the actual outcome any day of the week. Just as I prefer the outcome of your story more than the other variations I or anyone else could imagine, construct, and spew in this thread in an attempt to badmouth what you did.

Very true.

You "only" went chasing after what appeared to be an armed and violent criminal who was fleeing the scene of a crime, without being armed yourself.

A week ago you were fast to label someone else a "dumb@$$" for their actions when they acted to stop a crime in progress.

And now here you are posting about your heroic adventures fighting crime.

I see the irony in it.

I'm free to all opinions, and don't mind if anyone wants to share, I will not come down on them for it, just as I did not for everyone who replied to me in that other post, I gave my opinion, and I let everyone have theres, My main concern in that video was just that the child sitting on that counter, and yes I know in the video everything turned out well, but still in the back on my mind I saw many bad outcomes that could have taken place, its sick and sad when children become involved in those situations, I even remember as a kid myself at the state fair when someone opened fire in the area and we all had to get down, and times seeing in the news when a kid is struck from a stray bullet. but the world is a sick place at times.

but please, don't think I'll be upset over others feelings or opinions, and m1371 you're not being an a-hole, so don't worry about it. and I don't want to be called a hero or think I did an amazing thing, I even said in another post, I was just in the right place, I refused rewards, I denied the hero part, and I wasn't alone, if my partner haden't pulled up, the guy possibly would have gotten away, I only shared an event that happened as anyone else would have.

That is exactly what I was thinking when I read your first post. I have a tendency to analyze potential outcomes to situations and when I read your post I saw A LOT of negative variations on what happened. Tends to be a habit due to the work I am involved in.

I am hoping that now, after the fact, you take the opportunity to review in your mind what took place, what you could have done different and what some of the other potential outcomes could have been. I would imagine the hotel clerk from the shooting video did the exact same thing.

Sounds like this was a valuable learning experience for you, if you let it be.
