    Brownell's Cracks me up

So I ordered Go/No Go Gauges. One is on back order and the other one was sent in a box 15"x11"x8". That box could probably hold 500 of those things, or more. I think a padded envelope would have sufficed And one of the side corners was completely separated from the rest of the box (pushed in). I'm glad that little thing didn't fly out of there.

Shipping was reasonable $5.95 which led me to believe that it would ship in small priority box or similar. When I spoke to them about the BO, they said I would not be charged additional shipping fee.

If the antis see that photo they will accuse the gun lobby/gun manufactures of wasting resources and deforestation.

New legislation will soon be submitted..

Is it me, but midway seems to charge a lot for s&h compared to brownells, irregardless of the box size.

              You should try Armalite!

I purchased an extended magazine release for my pistol and the box was way larger than needed. From Brownells also.

They do that to keep them from getting lost in transit. The smaller packages tend to get damaged by heavy parts and torn thus the part falling out. The bigger box doesn't get misplaced as easy either.

I got a LPK and an extended bolt release for a Benelli (its about the size of a nickel) from midwayusa and they could have fit 30+ LPKs and a 1000 of the bolt release buttons in there.

I think part of it is because they are running out of smaller boxes, I would imagine they are shipping a major asston of stuff these days.

Shipping is based on weight upto a certain size (something like 20x20x24) sooooo.. It doesn't cost more to ship a big box vs small

I buy my headspace gauges direct from Pacific Tool and Gauge http://www.pacifictoolandgauge.com/ they redesigned their website adding an online store. I just call and place my order, and the gauges show up in a couple of days in an appropriate sized box. However, the box has never been a problem.

PT&G has some new stuff I'm looking at, like Savage precision machined bolt heads, including one for .22 Hornet - hummmm - wonder if it would work with the new .17 Hornet? Oh crap another project before I finish the last one.

If you don't like PT&G then try http://www.jgstools.com/
