LEO 30 Round Mag

Quick question:

My friend is a LEO and his duty weapon is an M4.

I have a Cal Legal Colt M4.

Can I use his 30 round magazines, with him present, in my Cal Legal Colt M4?

it depends on the configuration of your M4.

If your M4 does not require a magazine lock, then yes.

No you can not use a 30rd magazine in your Colt M4 unless it is featureless. That is no pistol grip, no flash hider, no thumbhole stock, no VFG, no launcher.

If your M4 has a detachable magazine, meaning you use a finger to push the button and the magazine ejects, then you also do not have a pistol grip, VFG, flash hider... then it owuld be ok as long as he was in the general area with you while you are shooting.

I imagine since you are asking this question you have a standard Magazine locked California compliant Colt M4 which is required by law to NEVER have a magazine with a capacity greater then 10 installed.

No one... not even LEO... can authorize you to break, ignore or violate that law.

Yes - standard aw rules apply - he has to be at least 18, has to stay with the LEO, and they have to be in a permitted place.
