    5.56 M193 ball test

I just wanted to share this video with ya'll. I was pretty shocked at how well it did @200 yards with a 16" barrel.

I don't know how to embed it, if anyone can tell me please do. I tried putting the url in the youtube link above, but it didn't work.

I always snag up all the yellow box Norinco I can find. Very hot and fast.

Federal M193 is all I use in an AR. I wonder how much a Case is worth right now, I need a new TV.
Yes I took the pic, no I didn't go swimming!

I have a few problems with his conclusions and his recommendations, or what he thinks is better.

Lets look at one of my old charts (for the new guys)
This shows us the basic bullet vs twist ranges. Note the green zones is a meld or average of data; Accuracy/fragmentation/penetration. How I got this was grading each on a 1-5 scale for each category. I don't have all the data pages any more. Once you chart the numbers, this is what you get.

                  I ONLY used a 20" barrel to compare apples to apples since I didn't have access to a 1:8 16" or a 1:9 18".

If he were to use a 20", 1:7 and 62gr, he would get nearly the same results. The difference would be minimal at best. What the 62gr would give him is the same result, but at a farther range. The 55gr will fragment higher at short ranges then the 62gr.

In my opine this shows the failure of the 55gr ball. If that was a man the round would just pass straight through without proper fragmentation. Try this with a 55gr JHP or go up to a 77gr JHP and the back "ballistics gel would have a golf ball sized hole in the middle. This is what you want for a Self-defense round. You dont want a huge long penetration tunnel.

The standard FBI gel tests are only there to show you the required penetration to produce a wound, NOT what you want your projectile to do when it hits a meat target. Here is the Federal tests charts. 14.5" barrel, 1:7 Colt M4 at 30 ft. This is what you want to see out of your ammo. Note the 55gr BSP.

Unless your threat is hiding behind a brick wall or inside a house, or wearing body armor...you do NOT want FMJ rounds. You do NOT want to see your SD ammo perform as it did in this test.

                  Just my 2 cents...
