I have never shot steel so if this is a stupid question please excuse it. I just got a 10" steel target and am racking my brain on how to set it up for really cheap. I already have a paper target that I made out of PVC and I was wondering if I set up a few pieces of plywood on the inside of the PVC arms so it would catch any metal jacket material or other spray would that be adequate to protect the PVC? Handgun and Rifle ammo?
The target stand is very similar to this but I used larger dimensions. I am thinking of hanging the gong from some chain on the existing wood arms.

Kind of like this... With the two pieces of plywood facing each other but protecting the PVC
