CBI suspends background checks.

Apparently they're overwhelmed.

I heard from family in Colorado about this earlier, and I've been hearing it's slamming Ohio and Texas as well.

I would think this means we can't buy any guns. I will wait till someone that actually knows speaks up.

OKShooters guys were complaining about being "delayed" during the initial buying rush. If you're NICS check came back delayed they would return the stock so someone else could try(would not hold the firearm). Delayed status can be caused when the system is overwhelmed. Pretty ****ty store policy IYAM.

I'll stress again, I 'heard' about other states, the only info I could find was Colorado. For all I know it's just a localized clusterf**k there.

From another thread, yesterday:

I was delayed.

Called today and she said there are 9-13 thousand applications coming in PER DAY.

She also said they are on max schedules and can only process about 5000 a day.

This is only an explanation for the past 1.5 weeks.


She told me to give it an additional 7-10 days and it should be GTG, if not call back.

Hope this doesn't happen with my other DROS's. Probably will

Called my shop and he said no delays here... if it is true it must be a regional thing...which would'nt make sense.

A whole lotta information being spread.

A background check, if delayed as a maximum of 10 days BY LAW to complete the background check. If the FEDs can't get it undone by that time period you are good to go and pickup your firearm.

Don't trust me on that, look it up yourself or call your local ATF office.

California does its background checks on its own. So does Colorado. Many states use NICS, which is nationwide. I was at a gun store in Arizona where the clerk was on hold for 45 minutes before being able to run a NICS check. Everyone is just maxed out.

Colorado hasn't "suspended" background checks, they're just getting slammed by the surge in sales and can't handle the load. They are still processing checks, but it isn't minutes like it used to be, it is now hours or days.

Chill.
