Listing guns on insurance policy - USAA

I currently have a firearm or two listed on my Insurace policy (USAA).

Lately, I have started second-guessing this, particularly since USAA is affiliated with the .gov, to some degree.
I realize I am having an emotional response to the current anti-gun climate, and am far more likely to lose firearms in a fire or theft incident, but...

    Am I off-base here?

USAA is good to go. Its a private corporation for veterans & their families, not a government entity. Not taxpayer funded at all - no freedom of records oversight.

I don't have my homeowners with them, but I do have riders for excess liability, guns, tools, and our auto & life policies. Great company if its available to you.
I don't shoot because I like guns, I shoot because I hate paper.

There's a mistaken impression that conservatives don't like the environment. We do, we love the environment. We just call it the outdoors and we go there to kill stuff.

Thanks for the responses thus far.
I know that they are not a .gov owned company. My statement about affilitation is because USAA's clientele are only US Military and selected Fed LEO's.
IF the Fed is trying to blackball/sideline Vets as potential, homegrown terrorists, I would think that the Fed would turn to a company like USAA for records to snoop through.
I guess I am paranoid, to some degree...!

          I think you are paranoid.

I have all mine on USAA valuables policy with make model SN, caliber. Person I talked to when I put them up was interested, because he usually just deals with someones new fancy engagement ring!

After more purchases I talked to a woman that had no idea what the stuff was, but said her 14 yr old son just went shooting for the first time and he's interested, so I informed her to look into "Appleseed".

Now figure, only a small percentage of firearms owners actually have them listed on a policy to begin with. It wouldnt be much help to the black helicopter people.

What are you going to do in Jan 2014 when we get long gun registration? Never buy a gun again? You'll end up on the 'list'....

            USAA is good to go.

They are very understanding with gun insurance issues. I got the feeling they deal with them a lot. I do everything through them. Car loans, credit cards, banking, insurance.

I've never seen an all around better package.

USAA just raised their coverage for firearms to 10k as part of your household goods policy.

                  Thanks for all the responses.
I have been with USAA for more than 25 years, and I don't intend to leave them.

@Postal: I know that I am a little paranoid, but that doesn't mean I am wrong!

                    Chico, here's the other thing.

USAA is very good to its members...surprisingly so, in my opinion. I don't think they would go against their members' best interest and just turn over the names of all people insuring guns.
