    General opinion on Rossi?

In my attempt to make a short list of items to acquire in the next year I have come across the Rossi line and am wondering what to think of them. I have seen them around, but never fired or owned one before.

I am mainly interested in their revolvers, since that is what is on my list, however they have some interesting shotguns and shotgun/rifles as well, and I was just curious what peoples opinions are on them. Thanks!

not feature rich normaly, lots of niche guns. I've owned a lot of them. Recent manufacture are much better than the older ones IMHO (ymmv). Not the most accurate or finely crafted arms but perfectly serviceable and functional. Their single shots are a staple of the budget minded. I use them as loaners on the trap range. Light weight and resulting stiff recoil encourages borrowers to buy their own bloody shotgun.

On par with Firestorm. I actually loved my Rossi and my Firestorm. Traded the Rossi for a set of binders and traded the Firestorm for a surefire flashlight. Two great trades.

I have a 30 year old snubby. It rattled around in my big rig for 19 years and glove compartments since then. No failures, and still looks pretty good.

Never had a Rossi handgun but I have two Rossi levers and they are good solid shooters. The Rossi 92 from 1981 exhibits better fit and finish than the Rossi 92 from 2005 but they both work just fine.

Wow, good to know there is some love for them out there. For the price points they look like they'll be worth taking a look at. I really wanted a Ruger Security 6 and I missed out on a deal on one a few years back and have been kicking myself for it.

Then there is that Circut Judge that just looks like fun....

Both my boys (12 & 9) have the Rossi Matched Pair .22lr / 20 gauge. Great guns for the price and what they are designed for.

They are a basic functional gun you are not afraid to nick, chip, or use under harsh conditions without losing a lot of value. They are not gun safe queens and you do not pay a fortune for them.

                          No experiance with their handguns

I've got a ten yr old 1892 carbine that I love. Fit an finish is decent, has a crappy safety tacked on by some lawyerly types that I hate, but it's a great gun that shoot well and is trouble free.

I like the guns myself. I've shot the 30-30, .357, and .44 and all have functioned without a hiccup. All were decent regarding accuracy, and I'd recommend one in a heartbeat to someone on a budget. I prefer Marlin levers myself, but I wouldn't hesitate to buy a Rossi if one came up that I liked.

^ I second this. Great simple combo for new shooters. I like that it breaks down for the BOB. Though the 20 gauge kicks worse than my mossy 500. Also own a 357 lever gun that has been great. Feeds 38 and 357 reliably and slicked up pretty good after a few range trips. I also own 2 Taurus revolvers that haven't had any issues. I know Rossi and Taurus are one in the same, but not sure if their revolver line is the same just different stamps. All of the above are new production, so they must be doing something right.
