Weapons found in SUV after I-8 rollover crash

Sorry that this is a DUPE...

EAST COUNTY: Several guns reportedly were found inside a sport utility vehicle that rolled over, ejecting several people on the eastbound lanes of Interstate 8 in Pine Valley late yesterday, authorities said.

A San Diego motorcycle officer came across the crash about 9:10 p.m. and asked for assistance from other officers. Sheriff's deputies, California Highway Patrol and San Diego police officers raced to the scene.
The officer reported that he secured the weapons, including shotguns and an AR-15 rifle.

A Cal Fire official said four people were thrown from the SUV. Two men were taken to a hospital by ambulance, and two women were taken by air ambulance.

The accident, involving a Ford Explorer from Arizona, occurred near the Pine Valley Bridge. Authorities said they think alcohol may have been involved. –P.R.

SO, what is the big deal, why publish this. BLM land is just down the road...

I was irked about this when I read it this morning in the paper. Nothing nefarious mentioned about the guns but yet they had to mention/highlight them. The only thing that really bothered me (as it should most) was that "alcohol may have been involved". I hate to think they were shooting and drinking. I also hate the "may" wording but I guess it is better than more substantial language convicting them before trial.

Yep, the drinking is what stood out to me.

It should be a drunk driving issue, nothing to do with guns.

Wait, they found an AR-15 rifle? Are they sure it wasn't a fully automatic assault rifle with unlimited ammo and headshot hacks?

I agree with the comment someone posted in the article: I'd be pissed if I saw a pic of cops laying my gun collection out on the concrete where they could be easily damaged.

Hundreds of guns and the guy is a gun collector - La Jolla isn't exactly a low rent place, that the guy (I'm guessing) has quite a few guns isn't exactly a surprise.
