    venting

As I was sitting here tonight going through a lot of the threads, I was starting to get depressed. Prices are going crazy. I'm also worried of whats to come with the awb and Yee's and Deloen's bills. Today they closed down the area where I normally go shooting. For the first time I felt guilty for owning and shooting guns. I felt like giving in. I'm tired of people asking me "why do you need guns like the one used in Newtown".
Then I started to think. I realized why I "need guns like that". Its so my family or myself hopefully never have to personally experience anything as tragic as Newtown. Its part of our heritage as Americans. I "need them" because it is my right to have them. I "need them" so I can have something to do with my friends and family on a nice sunny sunday afternoon. I'm tired of the news and our politicians making me feel dirty or like a criminal. I am taking a stand here and now. Not one more inch!!!
Or maybe I just need to man up or get a hug.

Hang in there man, i know how you feel. You need to disconnect from all the media, news, internet, crap like that. Just read a good book, exercise and go shoot g on the weekend. Info overload is dragging you down. I don't shoot because i can, i shoot because i enjoy target shooting and improving my skill. Its no ones business why i need to do anything, do what you like and leave what others do to enjoy their hobbies. America is not about telling each other what to do or enjoy.

Ya man. All these new laws there trying to put in place is sad. I watch only netflix & internet downloaded movies. Don't really check up on news so all this was out the blue to me. Finally saved up to finish my AR & now the uppers I want are soldout. Plus I wanted to pick up 2-3 more Pmags but those Sh*ts is at least in the 30-50s now, WTF. Buying anything AR related seems to like trying to pick up the iPad 2 when it first came out only now everyones trying to make a quick profit. Maybe I should just start buying strictly pistols now.

They are making this a pastime for the wealthy. They made the LEO community a super class of gun owners in payment for their previous and, no doubt, future support. Now, if all this passes, only the affluent, the oligarchy, will be able to shoot. Watched a guy check out of the range today. Eyes, ears, 1 box 9mm, 2 boxes .45, range fee = 84 bucks. How much love do you think he is feeling for our passion.
Kind of like CCW's. Diane got one, out of Santa Cruz of all places. Doesn't live here but owns land. Sheriff won't give me one even though I do live here and within a few miles of 1000 (yup, 1000) known gangbangers and associates with an average sheriff's response time of 21 minutes (yup). Other influential lib anti-gunners have one. Whoopi, Depp, Deniro.
And because we are not connected, our families' lives are worth less than theirs. And because we are not worthy and cannot be trusted with something only they can,, they demand to price us right out of them.
And if these laws pass it will only get worse.

I feel you man. Between getting crap from my family and getting hammered by the left wing main stream media, almost makes your position feel untenable. Then I remember that my supporting the 2A helps give them the right to exercise their 1A. Makes me feel a bit better.

I was banned from a persons facebook page for this conversation...

Liberal- No one needs those guns to hunt.
Me- Those guns are not for hunting, but they can be used for hunting.
Liberal- If they are not for hunting, you have proved the point they are for murder.
Me- No, they are for self-defense, from criminals and organized groups who could attempt to remove our American way of freedom.
Liberal- No one in Government is going to do that.
Me- So you trusted George Bush and Dick Chaney. They never did anything you didnt like nor did they work toward removing your freedoms... think about it.
Liberal- They were criminals who needed to be put in jail for what they did, but they are gone now. We elected better people for the job!
Me- And how would you have done that if they decided to NOT allow a free election, and used their loyal military troops to stop the elections?

I was then banned from the persons page.

I realized why I "need guns like that". Its so my family or myself hopefully never have to personally experience anything as tragic as:
                  • The Armenian Genocide,
                  • Stalin's Great Purge (Yezhovshchina)
                  • The Hitler/Nazi Holocaust,
                  • Mao Zedong with his Great Leap and running amok,
                  • The Hungarian State Protection Authority,
                  • Nanking Massacre,
                  • The Bataan Death March,
                  • Pol Pot ant the Khmer Rouge,
                  • Red Terror of Ethiopia,
                  • Bosnian Genocide,
                  • Kurdish Genocide,
                  • Democratic Republic of Afghanistan,
                  • Rwandan Genocide

                  ... among other reasons.

If some level of government had that information, what would they do with it? How would having that info benefit public safety? How would it benefit law enforcement?
