What happened after the last ban

So I wasnt deep in to firearms back when the last AWB was established. Im pretty sure this up coming ban will be a lot more drastic but assuming they only enforce the old ban what things can we expect when it comes to parts availability in california.

-After the last ban what was the availability of ammo, AR mags, uppers and other accessories?
    - How much did the prices go up on ammo and AR accessories?
    - over all what can we expect if the same laws/ban is established?

Manufacturers closed shop, moved thier CNC to the vacant adjacent shop space, and started making lowers under a new name and model #.
You could buy 'Muzzle Brakes' but not the evil 'Flash-Hiders'
Most barrel muzzles came nude and unthreaded.
There were all kinds of crazy mods to do so you could still have a detachable mag (funky non-pistol grip stocks, 'pinned' folding stocks, high capacity looking mags that only held 10 cartridges.
Having to register your AR type, and AK type rifles as "Assault Weapons" so you could carry them legally with a detachable magazine, and so they could never be sold to another person again (at least in Kalifornistan)
Oh....and a run on parts, and guns, price gouging, etc.
No real change in ammo. That price seems to be tied in with how many wars we are fighting at one time.

AR's became more accurate.Post ban rifles came without flash hiders and muzzle brakes but instead had a nice muzzle crown.

          I forgot to add:
BATFE and Cal DOJ had more information they knew less of resulting in fewer questions they were able to answer.

Ammo was up initially but died down after awhile. Mag prices for USGI were around $20-30. Pmags were not around back then or at least I wasn't aware of. Parts availabilty was really never an issue like it is now, although BCG's prices did go up a bit.

My Dad bought an AK at a gun store during the ban (in Georgia) and bought pre-ban 30 round mags too. So not much changed during the ban.

In the weeks leading up to it Turner's was selling AKs for $300 a pop.

Cabelas was selling preban standard magazines for a loooong time after that.
