Depends on where you live. Some areas need almost no excuse, others require that you are the Easter Bunny or Santa Clause.

Give multiple reasons.
You are an avid shooter and transport your guns and ammo which could make you a target for the criminal element.
Your hobbies take you far from law enforcement and you would like to carry a firearm for protection.
I told them, for my profession, I had medically controlled devices that would make me a target. I also included my professional license (which I think really helped.)
Kern County is pretty much a "shall issue" county. Orange is another good one.Comment

I'm in OC, I'm gonna try and get mine.
I'm using Justin's first reason, "frequent/avid shooter".
Hope it works. Already ordered my carry piece from Sporting Arms.

I just got mine in the mail yesterday. The reason that I put on my application was essentially frequent travel alone, in fairly remote areas during the early morning and late nights.
One thing to consider though is that I live in Butte County, almost a shall issue county.Comment

Yeah, right. You think she'd let a little thing like the LAW impede her? Leftwing crapbags like her believe they are above the law. Obeying laws is for dupes like us!Originally posted by rips31lol...too bad for her that it'll be illegal for her to own/carry a gun if she keeps her sf residency.

Every law abiding citizen should be able to get one with only the reason of self protection.Originally posted by MRex21I may buck the trend here, but if you can't think of one single valid reason to have a CCW, the I'd reason to guess that you aren't prepared, haven't considered the ramifications, and probably should not have one.Comment

i think the original intention of the poster, who may be applying for a CA CCW (good luck by the way), is asking what has been in the past a successful reason when listing the reason on the CCW application.Originally posted by JustangEvery law abiding citizen should be able to get one with only the reason of self protection.
beside the point of what is anyone in particular's political opinion, anyone in CA wishing to apply for a civilian CCW will have to answer this question and will most likely have his or her application reviewed by someone who doesn't share the same 2nd Amendment viewpoint as the applicant.
i've seen people's CCW's that listed "Self Protection." short and to the point but that seems to be the most valid reason to want to carry a gun.
has anyone else seen anything different?Steve Ou

Nice racks are much better. You can grab both sides of the rack to help stabilize while mounting.ProShooter's

Wait...I know I've responded to your posts before. Did you decide to move out of Santa Cruz?
And Black Majik, why has it taken you so long to get a CCW? I thought it was a given that anyone on calguns from Kern, San Berdu, Orange, etc. had theirs already?Comment
