Question about CA and a national AWB

I had this discussion w/ a friend today and we never really came up w/ a conclusion - So, I'll ask the collective

Since CA already has an AWB in place, we might be better off for once than other states facing such abominations for the first time -- what do you think?

California has its own private war going on with Yee and DeLeon. Whatever the other 49 states get, you can be sure we will have our own custom tailored one for here.

The answer would require knowing the content of the bill as it gets to the President's desk, if it should get that far.

Since nobody has seen even the version yet to be introduced, can't intelligently address the question.

1) Federal law supersedes state law in instances where the federal law is more strict... Basically, if a federal AWB is passed that's more restrictive than the CA one, we'll have to follow its provisions in addition to our own ban... If that makes sense. We also don't know if we'll be better or worse off until the bill reaches the president's desk.

2) There are still plenty of legislative threats in our own state even if congress doesn't pass a federal ban. Yee is capitalizing on this tragedy to reintroduce his bullet button ban... and it just may pass this time. He's also trying to require a permit to be renewed annually (for a fee) and annual background check for gun ownership. DeLeon wants to require a similar annual permit (at a proposed $50/yr) and background checks just to buy ammo...
