purchasing address issues

Generally speaking, whenever I purchase a new firearm I use my car registration as my proof of address along with my license as the registration had my at the time current address. Now, I have moved and as many of us know, the DMV won't issue a new registration card or license with the new address. So what am I to do? To add to this I have no bills in my name as I sublet my room from my cousin who rents the house. Please help. Thanks in advance.

Your rental contract should work along with your license. I just bought a pistol and my license had my old address, I used a water bill for my second proof of residency. They said a rental contract would suffice for a second one though. I know I'll get crap for this but if your buying a long gun I've been told by a few ffls to simply use the same address on my license. At big 5 one time they made me go to the DMV to get one of those freaking brown change of address cards. Took 20 minutes waiting in line to get the desk, told the lady what I needed, she took the card out and stamped it then told me I was good to go, just had to out my new address on the card. Pretty much a giant waste of time.

a rental contract won't satisfy federal law that requires a .gov-issued document with your current residential address (unless it is .gov-housing).

considering a contract was never made that wouldnt fly anyhow. any other ideas?

bottom line is that federally, you need a .gov-issued document with your current address on it.

many people have mentioned being able to get a DMV driving record printout that has your current address on it and that their FFL accepted it.
