Long gun registration doesn't start in CA until 2014.

NOT AN FFL HERE BUT:

as of now, there is state filing, then federal.
Federal is filled out and printed for store to keep on records. not submitted anywhere...
State is run for the back round check.
State for pistols includes the make, model,type, barrel, color, and serial #.
State for rifles is run as a rifle... optional receiver check box.

again, this is just as much as i can remember to my knowledge. i am not an FFL.

From what i have heard, it is all being reworked to a new system to run at the start of 2014 to include all information for both pistols and rifles.

Serial numbers do not get forwarded to CA DOJ at this time.
