    Received FL CCW

Well, I received my FL CCW. It came fast, I sent in the paperwork on 2/1 and received it on 3/3.

I'm stoked that NV was added to the list. Now to work on getting my local county to let loose with a CA CCW.

How do you get a Florida CCW if you live in California? What am I missing?

State of FL will issue a non-resident permit.

How does the finger print card work? Did you have to go to a station to have them take the prints, or do you finger print yourself, and pay the extra cash and they run the cards when they get the package from you in the mail.

.... and why would you want a CCW in Florida, unless you travel there often?

            You answered your own question.

To further answer it, Florida CCW permits are reciprocal with Alaska, Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Delaware, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Mexico, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, West Virginia, and Wyoming.

This means that having a Florida CCW permit allows you to carry in any of these states, though there are some restrictions in certain states.

Get Utah's permit as well. Then you'll have most of the western states covered...

Always a good idea to check first before going. Last I looked, FL is ONLY good in CO and NH if you are a resident of FL.

The packet includes an FBI card. Take it to LE agency that offers print card rolling service. Send it along with app. App fee includes processing fee.

The link that I previously posted has all the details.

If you live in a "may issue" CA county, I will hazard a guess that having an out-of-state CCW license might actually hinder your chances for success, should you ever apply for CCW in your home county.

Some people get non-resident CCW's just as part of being a gun enthusiast.

I collect them for fun. I have a New Hampshire license and I've never been to New Hampshire and not planning on a trip there any time soon.

The Internets Premier database for Concealed Carry Handgun and Firearms Law.

Check out the handgun law site. You can build a map that shows what states would accept your CCW's.

Based on this site, you 'Permit holder must be resident of state they honor'.

So, to get a FL CCW, you must be a resident of a state that FL honors. CA is not one of those states. Per this page: http://handgunlaw.us/maps/california_map.gif

But if the author of the thread received his CCW, and listed his residence of CA, I guess this site (handgunlaw.us) is wrong.
