Ammo Storage Issues - SAAMI ammo safety video

Most of us store (hoard) ammuniton. Many wonder what happens when ammunition is shot, burned, blasted, crushed or dropped from 65 feet.
This video is a training vid for firefighters. What to expect and that there is really no threat of life loss or serious injury from stored ammo.
Please don't go into shock at the wanton waste of ammuniton you're about to witness.

BTW I store my ammunition in a metal cabinet full of military ammo cans. I personally responded to a fire in a shed that contained a full .50 caliber can of 30-06 ammo. It went off like jiffy-pop and not a single projectile penetrated the can. Aerosol cans are more dangerous.

Glad to help. My cabinet is close to my 1999 Trans-Am WS-6 and I don't want any dings from flaming ammo either.

Outstanding video. It was sad to see so much ammunition simply be destroyed, but it was good to see some truth.

I think UPS, FedEx and USPS need to watch this video.

The only thing I'd like to have seen is effects of fire and "other conditions" on ammunition stored in ammo cans, both metal (military) and plastic. But from what I saw, I don't think the ammunition would penetrate through either the metal or plastic ammo can. Though in a fire the plastic would definitely have melted.

Overall, it definitely makes me feel better about my ammo storage.

Loaded gun in a fire was missing. Im assuming it would be the same reaction as firing the gun.
