    humidity % in gun locker

what is a good humidity % to keep rust away from my rifles?. i moved my gun locker [ Metal ] from the garage to my house. so far i put a box of silica gel made for safes and 2 stockings filled with rice. i bought a humidity gage and over night it was at 40%. that does nt seem low enough ?
    THANKS

Anything under 55% should be good. Keeping it too low could potentially cause a wooden stock to dry out and shrink

I stay between 40-50% with a heating rod.

I keep mine on the low side right around 40% which is low. From my understanding you actually can't go any lower than that by just using silica gel.
