shooting on BLM land - panoche hills

anyone have tips on shooting at panoche hills or similar areas. looking to do my first BLM shoot and want some insight on what to expect, etiquette, etc.

looking to shoot up to 200 yds.

can you use ORVs or ATVs?
how far from the highway should you be?
is it safe?

200 yards is easy to set up out there.

Just remember that people actually do hunt out there, well beyond your visual range.

It was a little dodgy getting back out of the area west of road P14 with all the people shooting down into the canyons. I left my truck plainly visible in the hopes that shooters would clue in that "Truck with no person == someone out in the canyons", but apparently that was asking too much.

Most routes don't permit ORV/ATV use.

Not sure which "highway" you're talking about. Panoche Hills is about 10 miles from I-5 as it is.

On that note, bring *2* extra. Pick up some slob's trash, too.

Oh, and avoid the outhouse at the entrance. It's Defecation Desecration in there. I wouldn't let my dog piss on the *outside* of the thing.
