SIG 556 HARDCASE TO BE OR NOT TO BE ?

    Hi all,
I just took delivery of a Sig556 Swat Classic ( manufacture date Aug. 2012)
It came in a cardboard box with correct Sig labeling for the correct rifle.
I thought that Sigs came in their own Hardcase and I see this is most of the adds on Calguns and other places stating that rifle comes with original Hardcase.
The guy at the gunship, a reputable one, made the comment that for the money you spend on these things you think they would ship them in a better container.
I just want to find out if I got duped, because I see the hard cases on eBay, and they kept the case or is it just a new way for Sig to save money.
    I would appreciate any thoughts

They did come with the hard case back in 2010 when I bought one from a dealer. You should call Sig and ask if they are shipping it with new rifles. Amongst some things Sig have done to cut costs is shipping 1 mag per pistol instead of two, they started that few years back.

Mine came in a bright blue case 3 years ago.

        HARDCASE IS NOT TO BE!!

Thanks for the responses. I called Sig direct and they confirmed that they stopped the hard cases a year or do ago. Some shops may still have them leftover or the rifle might have been sitting in the store got an extended period. They said it was a cost issue. Mine will be kept in a cabinet so I would just need to store the case. Thanks Again
