I would just put an ad in the marketplace - private firearms for sale
Lots of people in california want what you have,no need to ship. make a deal, arrange a meeting at a gun store with the buyer. Meet the buyer there do paperwork, and get your cash(via legal PPT) -
Legally, you can just ship it to the buyer's FFL. The buyer's FFL will need your name and address to log the shipment into his ATF required "bound book"....this is where it gets slightly confusing.. would I then ship it out to an FFL dealer of the buyer's choosing or would I go to my local FFL dealer to have them ship it to the buyers FFL?
And what exactly do I (the seller) need to provide to the FFL, would it be a simple Driver's License and a second form of identification?
In reality, many FFLs will only accept shipments from other FFLs. If the buyer's FFL won't accept a shipment directly from you then he will either need to find an FFL who will, or pay you some extra money to cover the fees your FFL will charge you to ship it. If the buyer's FFL will accept the shipment directly from you then you need to ask them exactly what proof of identity they require from you. Some will accept your name and address on the return shipping label. Some will require a photocopy of your Driver's License. Some FFLs will tell you one thing before you ship the firearm and then change their requirements after they receive the firearm.Last edited by Mssr. Eleganté; 12-05-2012, 10:54 PM.__________________
