    Kimber Desert Warrior..

I had a few questions for everyone. I just "gifted" a custom 1911 desert warrior, I was forced to gift it to his name because I am a CA res. and he is in AZ. now we are both active military in CA so my questions are these:

    1) can he legally bring the handgun back to CA and do a PPT since he is permantley stationed here?

    2) can a CA FFL do a SSE on it and make it CA legal?

any help would be great because the gun is almost ready to be shipped. thank you

Yes to both. Option one is probably the least expensive route.

are there any ffl's that you know of that would do option 1. All of the ones I have called are pretty short with me.

Well, where are you located? I'm sure you'll find some fellow members near your locale with a favorite shop you can try

Right now im in Southern California. But all of the places near me that ive called say that just because he is permanently stationed here doesnt make it legal to do a PPT.

I can't find the link right now, but IIRC, if he's stationed here, he's a CA resident until he's stationed somewhere else. Someone that knows for sure will likely chime in shortly.

Here's the thing, you both need orders placing you guys in california, or a CADL/CAID. With those things, you can go into just about any gun shop and do a PPT. If you want someone who is super involved, contact EBR works and have them walk you through the process

Yep both of them need to have California as the ultimate duty assignment on your orders, but in order for them to PPT that pistol wouldn't the current owner have to voluntary register that pistol once he brings it in?
