    CALCCW

First and foremost, I am NOT intending to bash anyone, only gather info/opinions/facts, etc. Please do not think this is a thread to bring on the hate.

I have just recently been perusing thru the threads on CALCCW.com, and I have noticed calguns being mentioned in a negative fashion several times. Anything from being blamed for the stricter rules for re-issuing a CCW (from PRA requests), to proper use of terms like "CCW" instead of "LTC."

Being a moderator on an MC forum, I understand things can get heated, and we all take some jabs here and there, but I was surprised at the amount of negative talk about calguns was in various threads over there. Even mods taking shots at calguns. To be fair, I guess the same could be said of them over here, but I have not read that yet.

My question is: Is this a long standing feud, or something more recent? Do the two sites support one another, as far as backing each other up? For a second, I thought that CALCCW was a division of calguns, until read more.....LOL.

I am still a "wet-behind-the-ears" NOOB around here, but I have found calguns to be a wealth of information. I will say that each forum (even mine) has its fair share of crazies, negative nancies, panty wadders (get all riled up over little things), know-it-alls, and I'm never wrong's, etc, but the fact that Cal Gun Foundation is out fighting for our rights (like the NRA) makes me feel good. Heck, I even bought a t-shirt to help support. Keep up the good work Calguns!

CalCCW is irrelevant for many reasons, on many levels. Just a bunch of misinformed followers of greg block, living in the past, parroting the same garbage over and over. I'm surprised someone still pays for the domain and hosting.

Hmmmmmm...interesting. Seems there is no love lost over there. Several members are mad at Calguns because they say the PRA requests for "good cause" statements prevented them from getting their CCW's renewed.

      Thanks for your response boss.

There is a basic division. CalCCW thinks Sheriffs should not be challenged because it will make them mad and issue fewer licenses. This overlooks the fact that issuance with the arbitrary approval of the Sheriff can change as soon as another is sworn in. There used to be a vested interest by the creator of CalCCW for the funky setup that now exists, because he was a source of Good Cause statements, particularly for Orange County, where he lives, works, and was attached to the Good Old Boy network like a tick.

Calguns, as I understand it, would like to see uniform issuance depending on a clear requirement for good standing in one's community. It works in mine, should be considered a right, and not subject to the political whim or corruption of the people in charge.

My sentiments exactly. This is the vibe I was getting from reading the threads over there. Some folks fail to see the big picture and are content as long as the current situation suits their needs.

          Thank you for enlightening me.

          Cheers!

Obviously CALCCW doesn't have a clue that calguns.net and the calguns foundation are two different entities. Then again, why should cold hard facts get un the way of their misplaced hatred?

My view is that over at CalCCW, they don't want to "upset the apple cart" so to speak

Because of the "got mine" attitude.

They love to flaunt it, with that silly, juvenile, "rice paper" avatar/logo

And, they'd like to keep their little club exclusive.

I have a LTC, and am almost embarrassed to admit it

Seeing as how so many of my fellow Calgunners struggle with the inequality of it all.

I'd gladly give up my LTC to start over, as long as Ca. became shall issue

And, EVERY law abiding citizen who wanted a LTC, GOT ONE!

This goes to the root of everything that is wrong with issuing licenses to carry in California. CalCCW is a relic of 'good ol' boy' issuance days. Live in the right place. Say the right things. Push the right buttons. Get a 'CCW'. This is NOT the future of concealed carry licensing in California. All the CGF has done is expose the faulty nature of their strategy and move forward with the objective of making 'shall issue' possible.

It is a commercial enterprise. Maintain the 'may issue' status quo, and ensure the dependancy of a strong consumer base. IIRC, Mr. Block is the same fellow who indicated to his students many years ago that as an open carry advocate, I would be a 'good shoot' if seen in public and a personal friend of my local Sheriff. Birds of a feather if you will.

You and I both. I'd be happy to burn down (figuratively) every issuing agency with a discretionary issuance policy...so that every non-prohibited person who wants to carry a handgun, can. This REQUIRES the apple cart be upset.
