My wife bought her first gun!

I am proud to say that a week ago I got married and yesterday my wife bought her first gun! She really liked the feel of the GSG 1911 and bought it. The tricky thing is is she is 16 weeks pregnant and I am not sure about the rules for shooting while pregnant. I definitely wont let her touch any ammo because of the lead. I also would not want her at an indoor range due to the lead floating around in the air. Would an outdoor range be safe? Or is it best to wait till after the baby is born?

I am also proud to say she is a convert. Before we met a little over two years ago she had never fired or even touched a gun. Now she has bought her own.

Most of the further discussion beyond the clear concise answer is usually people just trying to convince others that the Penal Code/Case Law doesn't really apply because their uncle's friend's cousin's son-in-law works as a gardener for a retired judge from another state who might or might not have said he doesn't think it applies to a certain case that has absolutely nothing to do with the question the OP asked.

Congratulations on getting hitched, and it's great to hear that she bought her first firearm. As for shooting while pregnant I can relay to you what my wife's o.b. told her when we found out we were going to be having a baby (about 11 months ago we now have a 2 month old baby boy).

The doctor told her that due to the possibility of exposure to mercury and lead particulates, and due to the concussion she seriously recommended that my wife not go shooting until after our boy was born. Especially if it was an indoor range as the particle count can be much higher, and the concussive force is amplified at indoor ranges.

Now we are just waiting for a day when we can get a trusted babysitter, and can afford to go shooting. Because we both have itchy trigger fingers.

Thanks. I guess I will have to break it in for her.

Been gone too long. It's been 15 to 20 years since i had to shelf my guns. Those early years sucked.
I really miss the good old Pomona Gun Shows.

                      +2 agree

ask her permission to lock the gun up... then don't give her the combination/key

All firearms are locked in the safe when I am gone. Thanks for the advice!
