AR pistol with featureless grip w/shoulder rest... legal or no?

After seeing this thread with the pretty cool looking grip, I was wondering if this would be considered legal on an AR pistol since technically you're not using the buffer tube as the stock. Or is a no-no on AR pistols?

Well technically it would be prison but yeah, you'd be in for some lifestyle changes.

Clearly designed to fire from the shoulder, definitely would be a SBR.

Number one reason why a standard AR pistol can never be "featureless"...

Magazine goes in a place that is not the handgun's pistol grip, which is a restricted feature. [PC 30515(a)(4)(D)]

            Penal Code 30515
            (a) Notwithstanding Section 30510, "assault weapon" also means any of the following:
            (4) A semiautomatic pistol that has the capacity to accept a detachable magazine and any one of the following:
            (A) A threaded barrel, capable of accepting a flash suppressor, forward handgrip, or silencer.
            (B) A second handgrip.
            (C) A shroud that is attached to, or partially or completely encircles, the barrel that allows the bearer to fire the weapon without burning the bearer's hand, except a slide that encloses the barrel.
            (D) The capacity to accept a detachable magazine at some location outside of the pistol grip.
            (5) A semiautomatic pistol with a fixed magazine that has the capacity to accept more than 10 rounds.

Still a stock. No go Federally. In CA no go as there is no such thing as a featureless pistol with magazine outside the grip.

Not sure where the idea came from, but the law doesn't make any sort of distinction about where the shoulder stock is attached. And it's Federal law, not CA law, that says a gun with a barrel shorter than 16" and a shoulder stock (any shoulder stock) is a short barrel rifle and subject to NFA regulation. CA doesn't allow SBR's no matter what, but regardless of where you lived in the country this would fall under that category. "features" is a CA thing and doesn't matter in this case since you have Federal law to deal with first.

Um you can't have a shoulder stock, doesn't matter if it attaches to a different place on the firearm than a usual stock. That's not a pistol, but a rifle.

A good accessory for a weapon like that would be some soap on a rope.
