On point: here's the link: http://www.theatlasphere.com/columns...save-lives.php

Unsure how to cut and paste it for all who wish to read it on the forum.

    Opinion Editorial
    Guns Save Lives
    By John Stossel
    Feb 28, 2008

It’s all too predictable. A day after a gunman killed six people and wounded 18 others at Northern Illinois University, The New York Times criticized the U.S. Interior Department for preparing to rethink its ban on guns in national parks.

The editorial board wants “the 51 senators who like the thought of guns in the parks — and everywhere else, it seems — to realize that the innocence of Americans is better protected by carefully controlling guns than it is by arming everyone to the teeth.”

As usual, the Times editors seem unaware of how silly their argument is. To them, the choice is between “carefully controlling guns” and “arming everyone to the teeth.” But no one favors “arming everyone to the teeth” (whatever that means).

Excellent. Like I always say, crazy f***ers don't attack the innocent because to them, everyone is guilty. They only attack the defenseless.

It is amazing that no one has yet to point out the fallacy contained in gun control laws.

Namely that the laws were enacted to prevent crime. And they have worked so well that more and more and more and even more gun control laws are being required to prevent crime. If hte laws worked as designed and intended then more of them shouldn't be needed. The fact that more control laws are being enacted merely proves that the initial premise was flawed because it was based on an unproven and unsound principle. That taking guns from the victims of crime would somehow prevent the criminals from perpetrating that crime.

Gun control laws do not work. It is time to try something different.

The common response is "if it saves even one life, it's worth it"....of course this is dishonest logic and irrespective of the countless lives lost due to the inability to defend ones self.

Another common response is to state how much worse crime would be without them. Similar to cutting the budget by only cutting the rate at which it increases.

Anything can be spun beyond the capacity of the average citizen to resolve. Unfortunately.

Yeah, gun control is working about as well as the war on drugs. Sigh.
