Hey guys...
In my insomnia filled nights Ive been thinking of a better adaptor for the SAIGA .223 than the one made for the Galil (the adaptor to put M16 mags into a GALIL ARM)
Ive been looking at pics and thinkin about it...If you weld the adapter in permanently with a MIG or TIG you can eliminate the entire original mag catch, everything goes, the 4 rivets, bracket, pin/spring/catch, gone...
Now, with the trigger guard at the rear, you have enough room to use the original AR/M16 mag catch, spring and botton on a specially made mag adaptor housing... I think
OK now crazy AK/AR adaptor idea #2....
Use the OEM bolt holder from the AR..when you machine the mag adaptor, extend the left side up and slot it and add a matchin slot/notch/tab on the AKs bolt carrier and a slot in the receiver for the BHO to slip thru and you'd be good to go.
Imagine that everyone....Yer shooting your legally owned 30 and 20rd AR mags in your SAIGA... at the last shot your bolt stays back and you hit the mag release to drop the magazine. New mag in and *slap* the BHO i button and you're back in the paper punchin zombie splattering action.....
Youd be able to shoot it competitively in 3 gun matches, you could use easily acquired AR mags in it should there ever be a civil melt down...,223 and AR mags will be plentiful. SAIGA reliability with plentiful ammo and easy adaptibility...perfect SHTF or heavy useage plinker. IF you ever move to Free Amerika you can go back to a "real" AK setup and keep the adaptor in place....
So stupid idea or should I move forward?? Seems to me their would ne some call for a product/idea like this one... INPUT!!!
