Need help with Ca assault weapon law/rules

Where can I find the latest ruling that allows me to buy a sig 556 or other assault type weapon with the mag lock. I have been getting many mixed answers and no one can show the the actual laws that allows me to purchase. I'm told that it's really a grey area and that the local cops can still arrest if they want. Is there someone in the state office that I can confirm with or even a CA gun attorney.

Laws don't tell you what you can do, generally they only say what you can not.

You're not going to find a law that answers what you are demanding.

To answer some concerns - Yes, it can be a grey area. Yes, you can be arrested. No, the DOJ won't answer your questions since they're butthurt about the whole thing.

Its a common courtesy thing.
Next I would reccomend doing alot of reading, and by alot, I mean alot. Use the search button, and take time to digest it.
Next reccomendation, If someone came up to me out of the blue and asked me where I can get an "assualt weapon" they would probally get the same smart@ss comments you have gotten to date. Think about how you are phrasing it, and go from there. I understand you are new to here, so you get cut a break this time, but do your research first and you wont have to ask those questions.
