    It is funny

    It's funny...

When people try to sale used common firearms (xd 40, s&w mp15 ect...) at the new retail price or higher than new retail price.

What's the most ridicules price you have seen on a firearm?

Have you had people get insulted when you offer less than asking, when the add states ''OBO''?

    Do tell...

I have a upper that brand new would be in the 800 range... I will probably ask like 400 for it. I could see people asking like $750 for it... in fact, I bet I can go into our marketplace and find one now...

The reason people ask those prices is because people pay those prices. Its the "must have now" part of the brain overriding common sense.

I'm assuming you mean common on-roster guns. I've bought over 20 firearms here.
For some sellers, a higher price leaves more room to negotiate from. Some are just fishing. Some don't really want to sell but will at an inflated price.
Some buyers are willing to pay more because the gun they currently want is hard to find.
No sales tax, and PPT's are exempt from the 1 in 30 rule.
I've never had anyone insulted by lower than asking offers but then my offers have all been reasonable. I don't lowball. Almost always get them too. But I'm an easy, no-hassle cash buyer.
Generally don't put much value in common after-market accessories like night sights.
Generally, believe stated round counts are under-inflated. According to advertised round counts, if the wts section is to believed, no one on Calguns actually shoots very much.
I will say I've never felt I was taken on any transaction at least thus far and have enjoyed everyone I have dealt with.
If the asking price is ridiculous, I don't even bother.

This thread tends to come up often. If you don't like prices than don't buy the items on the marketplace. People ask for the highest price they think they can get because as a seller, that's what they're supposed to do. People sometimes pay more than msrp on certain items and sellers shouldn't be blamed for that. I just sold a MKII on WUS and I got about $500 over what I paid. Market dictates price.

There was the used RIA Tactical for $700.

              Plenty of SP2022s at $500 & up...

People seem really proud of their used glops... Though I did see a really nice G19 @ $400 that had me fingering my wallet...

The most funny thing people do is label the gun as brand new in box with 100 rounds though it, or Sig owner will put the band back on the grip and take pictures of it like it's new, when it had been shot. lmao.

$700 RIA Tactical is bad considering I just got mine brand new for 550 OTD...

Where can I find this Glop 19??? It's almost as elusive as the infamous Glock 40...

I chuckle when they breakdown all their costs like tax and DROS, then ask 50.00 less than their out the door costs.

                      Glock 23 msrp: 609.00
                      Tax: 50.00
                      DROS: 25.00

I'll let it go for 625.00

Don't forget that Chicom SKS that's been for sale for waaaaay too long. I think it has about 30 pages of bumps by now.

Half the stuff on FleaBay sells for more than its worth.

What about the guy that sold a case of Twinkies for $700? Was he a DB? No! He was a genius!!

Probably the used Gen4 FDE glock that was going to be used in a Chris Costa class at a sale price of $1000. Oh, and someone had to give up their spot in the class so this guy could go and therefore claim the pistol was used in a Chris Costa class.

Edit: I think the thread was deleted but there was a guy selling his AR-15 for $1800 since he said that is how much a gun store valued it at and then looking at the parts list, it was a sub-$1,000 gun.

That's hilarious! According to that mindset, I should take some Costa Ludus classes to bring the value of my guns up.
