new, *fun* GUN SITE! -- showmeyourguns.com

Fellow shooters who love to show off their guns,

Since I love guns so much, I thought it would be fun to setup a site where you can share your pictures with other firearms owners and shooters. The site is built solely so you can SHOW ME YOUR GUNS!!! Please tell all your friends about this site - I do not ask members to pay, but you are always welcome to donate to keep my servers up and running. You can email me at
SMYG.admin --AT-- showmeyourguns.com and I will send you my mailing address. If you want to donate electronically, I only accept GearPay.com payments - email me ahead of time and I will send you instructions.
(we know that most forums have some sort of gallery, but this is PURE GUN PICTURES + a rating system!!!)

I've created several categories to ensure that you have a category that will fit each picture. Of course, I may not have thought of one or two categories, so if you have a category you'd like to see, contact me.

Here's what we've got so far...
Accessories, Ammunition, Antique / C&R, Black Powder, Bumper Stickers (pro-gun only), Civil War, Custom / Handmade, Famous Shooters, Hunting Gear, Gun Ranges, Korean War, Member Pictures (shooting pix), Military Full Auto, Pistols, Reloading Benches, Revlovers, Rifles, Shotguns, Tactical Gear, Targets, Vehicles, Viet Nam War, WW I, WW II

In order to submit pictures you will need to register and login. If you are only looking around, you won't see much, so please setup a user ID and share your pictures - SHOW ME YOUR GUNS!!!

    Happy Shooting!
    ~ The Shooter

PS - I have preloaded some pictures on the site that will eventually get removed. It's just to get things going... Also, initially I will be reviewing submissions to ensure they are not spam ads. I know none of you would do that, but there are some cheesey folks out there who like to spam sites with thier garbage. Once I am confident my security measures are working, I will lift the approval process on pictures.
    Thanks!
    Jim

Why do you need to setup an account to just "look"?
I went over there to see what you had, but it seems like I have to sign in first

Good point. I haven't quite figured out how to allow looking without someone posting a batch of unsavory pix or other spam. I will try to make it give some sort of previews, or something like that.

      Thanks for the feedback,

I politely disagree -- I upload all my gun pics to Flickr and keep them marked private, and only share them with groups and people who I know are into the gun thing. Your website should continue to keep all gun pics private, and only make them public at the express desire of the owner of said picture.

Living where I do (SF) I have of course anti-gun friends. I choose wisely how to share my pictures and keep the controversial items away from the people who I know will ignite their ire, and save my friendship with them. I also don't want random ya-hoos seeing my collection without having an account and the site admin knowing who they are, my privacy in this aspect trumps all other considerations.

        $0.02 from a random guy.

Plus you don't really know if the government is looking. I would love to post pictures of my guns on here but I would rather that not go into a database somewhere.

If your guns are registered then THEY know what you got already, If not don't post or talk about them. No problem.

Oh and good luck with your site, when the bugs die I'll sign up.

Thieves are the lowest form of life out there, except for liberal politicians, of course, but that's redundant.

Fortunately, I have not had any bug reports, just that a person can't peruse the site without a login.

As far as keeping it locked down, I will likely keep it that way. It's true, the goverment is certainly poking around a bit here and there, but they're so dumb that I am pretty confident that they would not put much credence in my site.

Besides, just because you posted a picture doesn't mean you own it, or possess it. The pix I put up for the initial load are all not my guns.

I appreciate all the comments and feedback so far.

              Thanks!

I thought when you did the dros on a long gun they only show the sale of a long gun. No registration info.

Love your Country, hate the government...

                  That's if you trust "them" - what I've taught my kids is this;

Love your Country, hate the government...

I love my Country but I hate my government because of its invasive, overbearing position on how I live MY life.
                  Thanks!
