    Holding firearms for someone.

    Hello all,

What happens to the firearms if someone is no longer around? Can the firearms be owned by the holder? We'll say the owner has passed away. Or moved away and will not return.

Sounds like you gave your buddy a pair of cement shoes and tossed him in the lake so you could claim his firearms

If the owner has passed away, they should be handled by the executor of his estate.

If they've moved away you should return them.

You're only supposed to hold onto firearms for someone "infrequently" for no more than 30 days.

Ya, a buddy of mine is moving out of state for a while. So, it's better that he brings his stuff with him then huh?

          Yes.

Legally you can only "hold them" for 30 days.
For longer time periods, then they need to be transferred to you through a CA FFL dealer.
