    Question about gun QUANTITY

I've had several guns passed down to me from grandfathers passing away. nothing was registered to them and none are registered to me. After a few years of arguing, i finally convinced my wife that the guns are safe in our house with a good safe. now all my grandfathers guns are at my house.

my convincing her also allowed me to start purchasing my own guns. In the last 18 months i've purchased a shotgun, 3 handguns, 2 rifles and an AR. so there lies my question.

i'm sure there's no real number, and the answer is purely speculative, but how many firearms can a person purchase in a certain timeframe-say a year-before it starts to draw negative attention from "big brother?" (insert random state/federal agency here)

    any thoguhts?
    I don't own any guns...they're dangerous.

Buying batches of guns at a time is more likely to get (random gov agencies) attention than just buying individual firearms. Buying a dozen ARs or a dozen AKs will probably raise a red flag. Buying a pair of custom Les Baer 1911s, probably not.

Sometimes wonder about that myself. I've bought quite a few firearms this year and wondered if there is some sort of protocol where flags are tripped.
Nothing so far thank Gawd. But they've pretty much been high middle to upper end, think I would be viewed more as an enthusiast and collector than a ticking time bomb. Mostly good handguns too. Same number of AR's might get their attention, dunno. good question. Something may trigger and they take a closer look, nothing there, so move on without any of us even knowing about it.
i had one deal kick back for some weird reason and delay something for a week, but it could simply have been an error on someone's part. Or not...who knows.

I bought three LC9's at one time when they first came out. No worries about it. Picked them up immediately after 10 twenty-four hour periods without a hitch.

My only worries when buying guns is if I have enough room in my safes to keep them, and is Mrs. Solo going to be upset about it.

If you are not doing anything illegal when purchasing them, don't sweat it. Enjoy them.

My gun buying is limited only by:

              Finances
              Room in the safes
              Watch Commander Approval (Mrs. Ricigliano)

So, stay single, make a lot of money, and buy a HUGE safe and you will have none of these problems!

Probably if you buy more then a few crates at a time then you'll get a little attention.

The smallest crate I've seen holds 16 rifles.

I once bought 5 c and r handguns at once, never did get a knock on the door, I sent in my 19 bucks apiece to doj. The way I see it is this. If they want my guns, it will be my choice to give them up, not there choice to take them.

If you buy enough to affect the nationwide supply of guns, causing a shortage, you'll get some attention.

Considering you just might have admitted to a crime on an open public forum, I would say buying firearms isn't your biggest worry.

FWIW, I PPT'd two revolvers and the FFL told me they had to report it to the DOJ or ATF or something like that (something other than the standard DROS stuff) because I was buying more than one "semi-automatic" handgun at a time.

If you buy more than one handgun duri a transaction the ffl is supposed to make you fill out a form saying you did so. It then gets submitted to your local DA for some reason.

Are we the only 2 that noticed, or are we missing something? Didn't he just say he has a bunch of unregistered firearms?

Well, I don't think buying guns is going to attract much attention to you unless there is something else drawing even more attention. Unless you're being investigated for drug/human trafficking, or you're on extremist websites often, I don't think they're going to pay much attention unless you're buying an arsenal large enough to arm an entire city.

It's not the guns that scare them, it's the ideas in the heads of those pulling the trigger that does.
